I love working with crystals in a woman’s postnatal period because their energetic qualities are perfectly suited to this highly sensitive chapter of a woman’s life.
Becoming a Mother is one of the greatest spiritual endeavours that a woman can undertake and a little crystal magic can certainly help her along the path of Motherhood!
Here are 3 of my favourite healing crystals for this special time:
Hormone Balancing Rose Quartz
The surge of hormones that a woman experiences after having a baby is enormous and it can be overwhelming. Rose Quartz is wonderful at helping you to balance your hormones. It has a lovely soft quality allowing you to wear it as often as you like. Rose Quartz is perfectly suited to a piece of jewellery that you can wear all day in the months after giving birth.
Soothing Amethyst
As a new Mum I suffered from terrible insomnia. Once I had managed to get my daughter off to sleep I found it very difficult to relax knowing that she would be waking up again for the next feed. A piece of amethyst under my pillow helped me to calm down and get some rest before the next night feed.
Pain Relieving Citrine
Citrine is reknowned for relieving post-operative pain. You can place a piece of clean citrine near any birthing wounds you may have. For example, if you are recovering from a caesarean birth you can place citrine near your scar to provide pain relief. If you had an episiostomy you can use citrine by carrying a small piece in a pocket or by lying down with a piece between your legs.
If you are visiting a friend with a new baby then a gift of any combination of the above crystals would be a lovely thing to take for her, along with a home-cooked meal and a big hug!
