A large part of living our mermaid essence is to honour the ebbs and flows of life. Over the past few months, I have taken a deep mermaid dive into hibernation. I am growing a new soul and I have craved quiet time and solitude. It is no coincidence that this urge came at a time when the nights were drawing in earlier and the winter mornings were getting darker. As women, we are cyclical beings and I believe it is important for us to follow the cycles of nature into darkness.
In this fast-paced online world, there are many voices out there advising us to blog once a week, stick to a newsletter timetable and post on social media. However, I didn’t feel like being so public during this special time of growth. Instead of “putting myself out there”, I have spent my time painting, studying and nesting. When you get the call of the siren to go deep into the dark depths of the ocean, heed her cry and submerge yourself in her embrace.
Are you honouring your inner mermaid by listening to her flowing nature?
You don’t need to be out in public all the time rushing through life trying to get everything done. Part of being in the flow includes the ‘downtime’. Schedule in some time to sit quietly on your mermaid rock and contemplate what feels good for you right now, not what everyone else thinks you should be doing!
Answer the call of the wild and retreat into hibernation whenever you need to and for however long you need to. I can guarantee that you’ll emerge even brighter than before!
It is in these moments of hibernation that we cultivate the seeds of our growth.
As winter begins to draw to a close and I start to prepare for childbirth in the Spring, I feel the call to come back to the surface again. I have grown my very own little mermaid over the past few months and I am on a feminine voyage of discovery as I prepare for my transition into motherhood!
